We decided to go to Amsterdam two weeks before leaving, so it was totally last minute!!! I’m really proud of our spontaneity because that is not like us at all. I suppose we were easily convinced to book when we realized everything was going to work out perfectly (e.g. it was a long weekend, Andrew was in-between jobs, and we had miles so our flight was basically free). Also, because of one of our “bucket list” items, which is only open in the spring – Keukenhof (the tulip festival). I’m so glad we took advantage of the timing because it was a really great trip, other than it being a lot colder than what we packed for. (April 16 – April 20, 2014)
Traditional Dutch Architecture – I think it’s so beautiful!
Entrance to Anne Frank House Museum. We waited in line for three hours in the freezing cold, but it was totally worth it! It was pretty emotional.
Inside the Van Gogh Museum. Unfortunately, we didn’t notice until after we were leaving that they had an app that you could download (and free wifi) to use and follow along with the exhibit!
Doing a little mid-day drinking at Heineken Experience! They gave us an extra wristband which was good for two extra beers. 🙂
One of the milder streets in the Red Light District
You can’t leave Holland without seeing windmills!
We also visited a Wooden Clog Factory
The main reason and deciding factor for going to Amsterdam: Keukenhof! It exceeded my expectations! It’s one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been to. #flowersaremyfav
