The first Yoga & Hops class we went to was last Sunday at Karbach Brewery. At first, we were all kind of nervous because some people were doing some insane stretches to warm up before we even started the class, so we thought we might be in over our heads. After we started going, we realized we were able to keep up with all the advanced yogis. The instructors were really great and were focused on making the beginners (half of the class) feel comfortable and offered modifications for some poses in case we didn’t feel we could to do something – or if we wanted to challenge ourselves more! The instructors pushed us and it resulted in such a great workout. We felt amazing after the class!
The best part about the Yoga & Hops class were the beers at the end!! Since it took place at Karbach, they gave you drink tickets for three complimentary beers to enjoy outside in the beirgarten. They had at least nine beers on tap, so there was something for everyone! We also ordered some food: Korean Fried Chicken (crispy chile glazed chicken + housemade kimchi + togarashi + scallions), Caramelized Brussels Sprouts (sorghum nuoc mam + beer nuts + bonito) and BBQ Pork Pizza (pulled pork + BBHBBQ + mozzarella + red onion + fresh jalapeño + cilantro). The brussels sprouts were the best I’ve ever had!!!
Yoga & Hops takes place about three times a week at different breweries in Houston. Each class is $20. I can’t wait for the next time we go… will yoga for beer!
