It’s National Barbie Day!
Ever since we were little we loved everything Barbie! From dressing them up to Barbie and Ken weddings. We would spend hours playing together only stopping to eat lunch. Those are some of our favorite memories together.
Here is a throwback Thursday to when we met Barbie and friends in real life and their famous hot pink limo at Disneyland in July of 1994!
Our 1st Barbie house from Santa. There wasn’t a Christmas that we can remember that we didn’t ask for a new barbie and their accessories. We had everything from a RV to a red mustang convertible for those Barbies. They were living the life!
Heather even met the creator of Barbie, Ruth Handler, and got a Barbie autographed.

It’s National Strawberry Day!
I love love love this day! Strawberries are my favorite fruit! Here is an easy salad that I have been obsessing over lately. I’ve been eating it almost everyday for 2 weeks and I still am not tired of it! Try it for yourself!
– Panera Bread Fuji Apple salad dressing
1. Wash all berries and lettuce.
2. Slice strawberries.
3. Add all ingredients to bowl.
Optional: Add other fruits to your salad.
Here are other recipes we have used with strawberries!
Today is National Chili Day! Over the weekend, we made chili in the dutch oven while we were camping at Huntsville State Park!
– 3 lbs ground turkey
– 1 1/2 medium onion, chopped
– 2 cans (15 oz) kidney beans
– 1 large can (28 oz.) diced tomatoes
‑ 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
– 2 boxes chili kit (We use this one!)
– Fritos, cheddar cheese and sour cream (optional)
1. Over a fire, add meat and onions in the dutch oven and cook until meat is brown, stirring occasionally about 20 minutes.
2. Add beans, tomatoes, tomato sauce and chili kits and mix together. Simmer for another 10 minutes or until you’re ready to eat.
3. Add additional toppings and enjoy!
Today is Heather’s 34th birthday and this past weekend, some friends and us went camping at Huntsville State Park in Huntsville, TX!!!
Huntsville State Park is only about 1.5 hrs north of Houston, so we all drove up after work on Friday. After setting up our tents, we ate sausage wraps for dinner with s’mores for dessert, then hung out around the fire the rest of the night!
After we ate breakfast burritos Saturday morning, we decided which hike to go on. We picked the 5-mile trail around the lake! Whenever we got back to our campsite, we ate sandwiches for lunch and lounged around because we were all so exhausted! Later, Andy and Robb decided to go fishing, while Andrew and Greg went to the Trading Post to pick up more ice and firewood. Us girls were still in lounging mode, so we opened up some red wine and had #sistersister time while the guys were gone. That night, we cooked chili in the dutch oven and made Frito Pies!! Everyone loved them! We also had more s’mores that night too.
It was drizzling Sunday morning when we woke up, so we decided we better pack up before we get caught in the rain! It was such a fun weekend so we didn’t mind heading out a little bit earlier than expected.
